Aura ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Aura mobile application ("App"). Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: email address, phone number, username, and profile photo when you register.
  • Content: photos you upload, ratings and comments you submit, and any feedback you provide.
  • Communications: messages you send to our support team.
  • Purchase information: transaction history for in-app purchases (payment details are handled by Apple/Google and are not stored by us).

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: features you use, screens you view, actions you take, and time spent in the App.
  • Device data: device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, push notification tokens.
  • Log data: IP address, access times, and crash reports.
  • Analytics: aggregated, anonymised usage patterns to help us improve the App.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the App and our services.
  • Create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
  • Process in-app purchases and manage unlock tokens.
  • Send push notifications about ratings, comments, and referral activity (you can opt out in Settings).
  • Moderate content and enforce our Community Guidelines.
  • Respond to support requests and resolve disputes.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
  • Analyse usage trends to improve features and user experience.

3. Anonymity of Ratings and Comments

When you rate or comment on another user's photo, your identity is never revealed to the post owner. Ratings and comments are displayed only in aggregate, and individual raters remain anonymous. However, we retain the association between your account and your ratings/comments for moderation purposes and to prevent abuse.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers: third parties that help us operate the App (cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, push notification delivery). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Law enforcement: when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
  • Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal reasons (e.g., financial transaction records).

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
  • Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

7. Children's Privacy

Aura is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately suspend their account and delete their data.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services including:

  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • RevenueCat — in-app purchase management
  • Expo / Expo Push — push notification delivery
  • Mixpanel — product analytics
  • Sentry — crash reporting

Each third party has its own privacy policy governing their use of your data.

10. Cookies and Tracking

The Aura mobile app does not use browser cookies. We may use device identifiers and analytics SDKs to understand how users interact with the App. You can opt out of analytics tracking in your device's privacy settings.

11. International Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one in which you reside. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in accordance with applicable data protection law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
